Weaving by Hand

Learning the art of weaving our experience
January 18th- February classes
Online - Tuesday 5 pm PST

In-person - Berkeley Monday 8 pm PST

Drawing of Wool Yarn

It seems like there are events in our past that tie us down and don't let us grow

As for the future - How do I weave something without repeating all the baggage I carry from before?

In the next two months, we will focus on the wisdom of weaving a good life.

In Shvat (January) we will practice Yemima's idea of pulling golden threads from our childhood. We will delve into her texts and use mindfulness practices.

In Adar (February) we will rewire our threads to the future - our ability to pray and set intentions without holding too tight.

Looking forward to weaving with you!

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

This class is for me deep Jewish wisdom, expressed in simple language, that goes to the heart of what it means to take care of ourselves. I have loved the method of transmission through dictation and transcription as this has made me really feel part of an oral Torah tradition. I have appreciated so much how you, Naama, brought stories of your grandma and your own written reflections to the group. I have treasured the deep openness and sharing from other members that have resonated with me so much.

For me, this class is sort of like a meditation class mixed with group therapy and a Torah class all in one. It's like a space to connect with Hashem that's also focused on self-work and finding my own path through a disciplined practice of connecting with the words. The most I can say is that after 4 sessions, I am intrigued and I’d like to keep going.

I needed some gentleness in my life. I felt that softness come through not only the material but also the pedagogy and my classmates

What does a class look like?

Part 1: checking in and transitioning into the circle

Part 2: dictation and discussion

Part 3: sharing in a safe space where we hear and come to be heard

A bit about me

My name is Naama, it is really nice to meet you!

I grew up in Jerusalem and currently live in Berkeley, CA.

To Yemima method, I arrived through my grandmother.

Sometimes I feel like she invited me to the table of the wise Jewish women who kept the chain of wisdom alive for all who need it. I want to extend this invitation to others.

The weekly class is a good fit for you if:
You want to have structured time in the week to practice
You want to practice in a group
You are ready to make a commitment to learning and developing
